Carthage, IL – Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to invite the community to the 2025 Anniversary Gala at The Winery in Carthage, IL, on Friday, April 4 th . Tickets are $75 each or $650 for a Premium Table for eight guests. Tickets must be purchased in advance. The evening includes a social hour beginning at 6:00 pm. A short program will begin at 6:45 pm, and dinner will be served at 7:00 pm. The announcement of the silent cake auction winners and the live auction will immediately follow dinner. Matt & Emma Quartet will be providing live entertainment for the duration of the evening. All proceeds from the Anniversary Gala will benefit the “Together We Grow” Endowment Fund. The Foundation continues to grow our endowment for the future of quality local healthcare. SPRING INTO WELLNESS: COOKING FOR DIABETES AT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

Carthage, IL – Memorial Hospital is excited to announce the Spring Edition of Balanced Bites: Cooking for Diabetes. This event promotes diabetes wellness through healthy cooking. The class will take place on Monday, March 24, at 10:30 AM in the Health and Wellness Teaching Kitchen located at Memorial Hospital at 1454 N. Co. Rd. 2050, Carthage, IL. This event is open to individuals aged 18 and older who are diabetic, pre-diabetic, or who have loved ones with these conditions.


Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The class will include a delicious meal, along with real-life applications to help participants make healthier choices for themselves and their families. This enriching experience will be led by Ashlyn Housewright, Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and Kayce Fuhrman, Registered Nurse and Director of Diabetes Services.


Fuhrman is dedicated to helping others improve their health. She believes in meeting people where they are and collaborating to find ways to enhance their well-being. “Managing diabetes can feel overwhelming, but small, intentional changes in how we approach food can make a big difference. Carthage, IL – Memorial Hospital’s Health & Wellness Center is making mealtime easier with the return of the ever-popular Meals with Memorial: PREP & GO! Workshop. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:30-6:30 PM at the Teaching Kitchen, located at 1454 N. County Road 2050, Carthage, IL.
With spring schedules filling up fast, meal planning can be overwhelming. This hands-on
workshop, led by Registered Dietitians Ashlyn Housewright, Julie Shoemaker, and Chef Amber Clark, will help participants prepare 10 nutritious and delicious meals to take home, making busy nights stress-free.

The cost is $5 or less per serving for a total of $200 for 10 meals (each meal serves 4-6 people).

not want to miss their presentations. Joy will be addressing the 200 th year
celebration of Hancock County. Bob is a member of the Historical Society, and he
will speak about local history as well.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Carthage, IL – 2/18/2025 – Scholarship monies are available through the Memorial
Hospital/HIA Scholarship Fund and the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship for
Hancock County. These scholarships are available to Hancock County residents pursuing or currently enrolled in a healthcare-related program.
Thanks to the generosity of the Hancock County Health Improvement Association, these
funds have been designated to support local students in their journey toward a healthcare career.  Scholarship recipients are not required to repay the funds if they complete their education in a healthcare field and/or career.
How to Apply:
Applications are available online at MHTLC.ORG by hovering over the Careers tab, or they
can be picked up from the Memorial Hospital administrative office in Carthage. The
deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Applicants must also submit a certified copy of
their student transcript.

MEMORIAL HOSPITAL TO HOST COMMUNITY HEALTH SCREENINGS

Carthage, IL – On Wednesday, March 12, Memorial Hospital will offer community health
screenings at the Carthage Community Center located at 301 Main Street in Carthage.
Screenings will include A1C, lipid panel, hearing, and vision tests at the affordable price of $25.
These screenings are available to the public, but participants must register and pay in advance.
Due to limited availability, early registration is encouraged. Participants should also note that
fasting 10 to 12 hours prior to the lipid panel is required to ensure accurate results.
Choose Memorial to help you prioritize your health this March. Memorial Hospital encourages
the community to take advantage of this opportunity to gain valuable insights into their health.

MEMORIAL MEDSPA WELCOMES NURSE PRACTITIONER JENNIFER MYERS

Carthage, IL – Memorial MedSpa is excited to announce the addition of Jennifer Myers,
APRN, FNP-C, to its team of expert providers. With a strong background in patient care and
a passion for wellness, Myers will assist patients with a focus on weight loss management,
hormone replacement therapy, and IV hydration therapy to optimize their health and well-
being.
Myers brings extensive experience to her new role, having worked as a board-certified nurse practitioner since 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing and her Master of Science in Nursing from Graceland University, completing practicums at Blessing Health System and Quincy Medical Group. Her career began with 15 years in Critical Care as an RN, followed by experience in Urgent Care, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Pulmonology. She later expanded her expertise by working in a medical clinic alongside a chiropractor, where she provided regenerative medicine, trigger point injections, hormone replacement therapy, IV hydration, and weight loss treatments.
Myers is eager to help patients feel their best through personalized treatments that enhance overall health and longevity. She helps patients understand the power of hormone and vitamin optimization to improve energy levels, metabolism, muscle function, focus, sleep, and mood—ultimately supporting disease prevention and long-term wellness.
“I am excited to continue to help people optimize their health and feel better day to day,” said Myers.

Instructors sought for Sandburg Kids on Campus program in Carthage

 

CARTHAGE — Sandburg is seeking enthusiastic and creative instructors to teach classes for its Kids on Campus summer program June 23-27 in Carthage. This event attracts students from throughout the college’s district each year and offers classes in a variety of subjects to children in grades K-6 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. each day.

 

Instructors are needed in many subject areas and are encouraged to submit proposals for classes they’re interested in teaching. Teaching credentials are not required, but expertise and enthusiasm in a subject are essential.

 

Instructor compensation is $20 per student per class, with $3 per student per class budgeted for supplies. Instructors are asked to consider supply costs in advance and submit their supply list one week before classes start. The target class size is five to 12 students (unless otherwise noted), with three classes taught in the morning and two in the afternoon.

 

Proposals may be submitted until 4 p.m. Feb. 28 and will be considered on a first-come basis. Anyone submitting proposals will receive a response on or before March 7. Background checks are required for first-time Kids on Campus instructors if their course is selected. Forms are available at Sandburg’s Carthage campus, 305 Sandburg Dr.

30TH ANNUAL HANCOCK COUNTY FAMILY FAIR WAS A STELLAR SUCCESS

Carthage, IL – On Saturday, February 1, the 30th Annual Family Fair, hosted by Memorial
Hospital, Mental Health Centers of Western Illinois, Carthage Public Library, and the Hancock County Health Department, brought many families together for a day of learning and fun.
This years theme"Reach for the Stars – The Sky is the Limit," inspired an engaging and
educational event for families across the surrounding communities. The event had a fantastic turnout with over 250 attendees and over 30 exhibitors providing resources, activities, and interactive experiences for all attendees. Special guests included Celebration School of Dance, who gave an exciting performance, Mike Nobis from the Quincy Astronomy Club who shared his expertise on the wonders of the night sky, Nauvoo Public Library brought a star lab, and a special appearance by Astronaut "Cosmolitta" who gave all the children an astronaut name and passed out moon jewels.  
Organizers are excited to announce that the 31st Annual Family Fair will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026, with the theme"Outer This World,"promising to be another engaging experience for families filled with exciting exhibitors, hands-on activities, and community  connections. The location for the event is to be determined.
