Update on Illinois Harvest Permit Program and Dyed Diesel
llinois Farm Bureau is providing an update on Governor Pritzker’s October 6 Executive Order regarding the Illinois Harvest Permit Program and the temporary use of off-road dyed diesel on highways and state roads for farming and agricultural purposes through December 31, 2026. While the order provides temporary penalty relief and directs state agencies to pursue additional federal relief, it does not specifically excuse any motor fuel tax liability that may be owed. IFB continues to work with the Illinois Department of Revenue and other stakeholders to better understand the tax implications and remains concerned about how enforcement will be handled after the temporary authorization expires. IFB will continue to monitor developments at both the federal and state levels and will share additional information as it becomes available.
