CITY OF MACOMB SWEARS IN NEW POLICE CHIEF
TODD TEDROW
MACOMB, IL- During Monday night’s City Council meeting, Macomb Police Lieutenant Todd
Tedrow was officially sworn in as the City of Macomb’s new Police Chief. Tedrow had been
serving as Interim Chief since October of 2025, when he stepped into the role following the
retirement of former Police Chief Jeff Hamer. Since then, he has provided steady leadership and direction for the department.
Tedrow brings extensive law enforcement experience to the role, including a background in
Patrol Supervision as well as Criminal Investigations, Strategic Response Team Commander, Range Officer, Field Training Officer and a K-9 Handler.
Chief Tedrow has served in the Macomb Police Department, with distinction, for nearly 17
years. Throughout his tenure, Tedrow has received recognition for outstanding performance; including multiple Life Saving Awards, Officer of the Year, Meritorious Service Award, ISPA Law Enforcement Award for Valor, Chief’s Recognition Award, and Physical Fitness Award. Chief Tedrow also served as Vice President of the 596th class of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command Training. Tedrow has been an active member of Macomb Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #189.
As he steps into the role of Police Chief, Chief Tedrow plans to focus on crime reduction
through proactive policing and community partnerships, improving operational effectiveness with updated equipment and technology and expanding on mental health response within the community.
“I could not be more pleased that Lieutenant Tedrow has accepted appoint as our new Chief of Police” said Macomb Mayor Michael Inman. “He has built a distinguished professional career with the Macomb Police Department, and I am convinced that he not only enjoys the respect of the women and men of the Macomb Police Department he also has the respect and confidence of our community partners”, Mayor Inman added.
