Hancock County Health Department Announces the Dental Center has Re-Opened
The Hancock County Dental Clinic opened on May 26, 2006, on a part-time basis. It eventually grew to have one full-time dentist and staff. In late 2008 the expansion of the dental building was complete, and a wide array of services were provided until June 2022. Since that time the staff have worked tirelessly to bring back much needed dental care to the community.
In March of this y ar a dentist, Dr. Tessa Johnson, came on board to reopen the dental center. Dr. Johnson is a Nauvoo native and went to dental school at the University of Iowa. A familiar face to the dental clinic, Erin Harris, dental hygienist, came back to the clinic. Along with Dr. Johnson and Erin there are also three dental assistants. Just like Dr. Johnson, Erin, and most of the dental staff are Hancock County natives and are excited to serve you.
With the opening of the dental center the services offered will be exams, digital x-rays, cleanings, periodontal therapy, tooth-colored restorations (fillings), pediatric stainless-steel crowns using the Hall Technique (no drill, no shot), extractions, and treatment of emergencies. Extensive oral surgery procedures, including wisdom tooth removal, will also be offered. Dr. Johnson will also be offering nitrous oxide for children to enhance the services provided to our pediatric patients. The staff are experienced and passionate about the oral health of kids! If you are experiencing pain or swelling, please let us know when you call, we try to prioritize treating pain an infection.
Most insurances accepted along with Illinois Medicaid. Sliding fee scale is also available. Please call today to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions, 217-357-6984. The Dental Center hours are Monday through Thursday 8am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm.
