Keynote Speakers Announced for Upcoming Trauma-Informed, Relationship-Focused

Schools Conference at Chaddock

QUINCY, IL. – The Trauma-Informed, Relationship-Focused Schools Conference, scheduled for March 5th and 6th, 2025, is excited to announce its esteemed lineup of keynote speakers. This year’s event will take place at Chaddock’s Dr. Debbie Reed Center for Excellence and promises to deliver engaging, impactful sessions for educators, administrators and professionals committed to creating trauma-informed and resilient schools.
Keynote Speaker Highlights:
• Leslie Hansen Vigor, Director of Social-Emotional Learning at ROE1
Presentation: Proactive Use of Restorative Practices: Building Stronger Communities
Leslie brings over 26 years of experience in education and currently leads the Area 3 SEL
Hub in Illinois. She directs a coaching team focused on advancing social-emotional
learning and trauma-informed practices across 20 counties in West Central Illinois. Her
session will delve into restorative practices and their role in building stronger, more
connected communities.
• Sarah Goodapple, BSW & Olivia Voss, MA, QMHP
Presentation: The Power of Puppets
Sarah Goodapple, a Family Coach with Chaddock Foster and Adoption Services, and
Olivia Voss, a Clinical Therapist at Chaddock, will introduce Chaddock’s new puppet
troupe. Their session will explore how puppets can support children and young people in
developing healthy relationships and healing from trauma. Both Sarah and Olivia bring
specialized training in Chaddock’s DTAP model, TBRI, Theraplay, DDP, and VIT,
equipping them to empower families and address trauma-related challenges.
• Jared Scott
Presentation: The Culture Shift Tour
Jared Scott, a counselor, speaker, and creator of the Culture Shift Tour, has worked with
over 1,000 schools nationwide. Drawing from personal experiences with trauma, Jared
equips educators with practical strategies to build relationship-centered, trauma-informed
school environments. His dynamic session promises to inspire attendees and provide
actionable insights.

• Karen C. Simms, LPCC
Presentation: Building Resilient Communities: The Power of Collaboration
Karen C. Simms, an experienced consultant and founder of the Trauma and Resilience
Initiative, will explore the Trauma Sensitive Schools framework by the Trauma and
Learning Policy Initiative. Her session will emphasize key elements such as
collaboration, brain-based practices, resilience, and restorative approaches to foster safety
and well-being for students and educators alike.
