On Saturday, June 5th, three major events, the Strawberry Strut, Strut Around the Block, and Hancock County Fights Cancer, are happening in Carthage, Illinois. Starting at 8 a.m., the 42nd Annual Strawberry Strut will kick-off events on the courthouse square in Carthage. The Strawberry Strut is a 5-mile run/walk and 1-mile fun run/walk starting at the Hancock County Courthouse. You can still sign up by checking out the Strawberry Strut Facebook page for registration details. The Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the first annual Strut Around the Block retail promotion from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with the Strawberry Strut. This includes strawberry-themed scavenger hunts at the local businesses and strawberry-themed drinks at the local restaurants. Hancock County Fights Cancer will take over the courthouse lawn as soon as the Strawberry Strut is finished. The Danny Quinn Memorial Car Show registration begins at 11 a.m. There will be craft vendors and a small farmer’s market on the northwest corner of the courthouse square from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the Hancock County Fights Cancer events take place.
