Linda Burgess

Linda Lou Burgess, 80, of Keokuk, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.

     She was born March 10, 1946, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Maxine Stroud.

     On February 13, 1968, she was united in marriage to Danny Lee Burgess in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2021.

     Linda worked at the Knotty Pine for twelve years before going to work at Burger King in Keokuk, where she was employed for seventeen years. She retired in December of 1998.

     She loved animals, watching westerns, working crossword puzzles, and spending time in her garden with her flowers. 

     She is survived by her children, David (Gyni) Burgess, Danny             Burgess, Kyle Burgess, and Terri Lynn (Dave) Lorentzen; her stepchildren, Cassie (Mike) Whippie and Brenda (Robbie) Smith; twenty-three grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; her sisters, Annie Vermeesch of Keokuk and Mary McGee; one brother, Butch Stroud; along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

     In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother; her son, Kenny Couchman; her grandsons, Dakota “Pode” Stark and Nathan Cook; her great-grandchild, Connor Burgess; and her brothers, Richard Burgess and Elmer Burgess.

     A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2026 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk.  Burial will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

     A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.
