Philip John O’Hara

 Philip John O’Hara, 83 of Keokuk, Iowa passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, September 27, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

     Phil was born on December 3, 1942, to John and Charlotte O’Hara A lifelong resident of Keokuk, he graduated from Cardinal Stritch High School and remained deeply connected to the community he called home throughout his life.

     On July 22, 1967, Phil married the love of his life, Kathy Printy in Elvaston, Illinois.  Together they built a strong and loving marriage that spanned nearly six decades.  Kathy survives him and will forever cherish the life they shared.

     Phil’s work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career.  He began working at Benner’s before moving to Paetz Super Value.  He later found the career for which he was best known, serving in the Trust Department at State Central Bank in Keokuk, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.  Retirement, however, did not suit Phil for long.  Always one to stay and serve others, he returned to work delivering medications for KAME Pharmacy, a role he thoroughly enjoyed.

     Beyond his career, Phil found joy in the simple pleasures of life.  He enjoyed farming with his brother-in-law, Jim, and in his younger years was an avid bowler.  He treasured the friendships and memories made through these activities.

     Above all else, Phil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend.  His family was the center of his world.  Whether he was helping with home projects, gathering the table for family dinners, celebrating holidays, or simply spending time with those he loved, Phil was happiest when surrounded by family.

     His granddaughters brought him tremendous pride and joy. He never hesitated to let them give him a “makeover,” complete with makeup and plenty of laughter.  Family and friends will also fondly remember Phil’s unforgettable Bullwinkle impression, which never failed to bring smiles and laughter to those around him.

     Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy O’Hara; his sons, Mark O’Hara and Jeff O’Hara (Mary), all of Keokuk; and his cherished granddaughters, Stephanie (Terry) of Jefferson, Georgia, and Jamie (Harrison) of Midlothian, Texas.

     He was the proud great-grandfather of Carter, Cooper, Lynnley, and Gracie, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

     He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave (Shirley) Printy, Jim (Bonnie) Printy, and Jeannie (Edward) Lemon, along with many nieces, nephews, extended members, and friends who were blessed to know him.

     Phil’s kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering loved for his family will be deeply missed but forever remembered.  His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly.

     A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Father Hai Dinh officiating.  Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

     Visitation will be held prior to the service, Friday, from 10 -11 a.m., at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
