Ernest Howard “Ernie” McIntyre, 79, of Warsaw, passed away at 2:26 AM
Monday morning, September 21, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Ernie was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Ernest Howard and
Doris Louise (Pickett) McIntrye, Sr. on December 17, 1946. He graduated
from West High School in Phoenix, Arizona and went on to graduate from
Glendale/Phoenix Community College.
Ernie was an active supporter of the Arts, a writer, filmmaker and past
columnist for The Arizona Republic, the largest newspaper in Arizona from
2000 to 2008. He authored Café Denial and Alisha the Knower Trilogy.
Ernie received the Arizona Governors Arts Award eight times and Nominee
from 20001 – 2008. He served as the Arts Arizona Executive Director from
2000 – 2012. Until July of this year he was the Editor/Publisher of Gasser
Magazine, a position he had held since 1999.
Ernie was an Innovative Technologies Partner from 1988 – 1992, Powers
Steel F/C Sponsorships from 1979 – 1981, Art Life Writer and
Photographer from 2002 – 2007, Arizona Racing News columnist from
1971 – 1973, King Camaro F/C Sponsorships from 1970 – 1974, Rod
Sports writer and photographer from 1969 – 1970, the only employee for
Valley Speed Center from 1964 – 1966 and was a ¼ mile driver in the 1955
NHRA Nationals. Ernie also loved music, TV shows and movies.
In 2016 he met his fiancé and love of his life, Marie Ann Bell over a pizza at
Little Bite of Italy in Sun City, Arizona, and they have been together ever
since.
Ernie is survived by his fiancé, Marie Bell, of Warsaw, Illinois; and a brother,
Kennth LeRoy (Tammy Louise) McIntyre.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Printy Funeral Home of Waraw is in
charge of arrangements.
