David E. Smith, 71, of Keokuk, passed away August 19, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison.
David was born February 26, 1955, the son of Wallace and Arminta “Pud” (Combs) Terry in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. On March 17, 1978, he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Russell in Kendallville, Indiana. He was of the Baptist faith.
David is survived by his wife, Mary, of Keokuk; children, Crystal Marie (Christopher) Handshoe of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, Christal (Bobby) Richardson of Elkhart, Indiana, Rick (Brandy Huston) Smith of Hamilton and Josh Smith of St. Francisville, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren; siblings, Tim (Deb) Smith of Wolcottville, Indiana, Cathy
Smith of Auburn, Indiana, Mitch Terry of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Patty (Tracy) Mobley of Avilla, Indiana, and Wally Terry of Rome City, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters; and a sister, Carolyn Ball.
