Lonnie James Tones, 61
Lonnie James Tones, 61, formerly of Tennessee, Illinois, passed away at home on
Sunday, June 14 th , 2026, in Columbia, Missouri.
Lonnie was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, on June 18, 1964, the son of James and Vivian
(Mason) Tones. He grew up in Tennessee, Illinois and graduated from Colchester High
School. Has united in marriage to Kimberly Kitch and they were later divorced. Lonnie
had worked for the Rowboat Restaurant in Macomb and for the Ramada Inn Banquet
Hall in Champaign. He then worked at the University of Missouri Hospitals as a baker in
food service for twenty-five years before transferring to the Residence Life division as
the lead custodian. Lonnie was a die-hard car racing fan and kept statistics on the
drivers from the time he was ten years old. He had the opportunity to go to many races
including Knoxville and the Indy 500. He was an avid gardener and kept a beautiful
flower garden on his property. Lonnie was also New York Jets fan and animal lover.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.
Lonnie is survived by his two daughters, Rachel Price of Phoenix, AZ and Katlyn Tones
of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Abby and Hayden Price; his mother, Vivian Richardson
of Warsaw; sister, Tina Tones of Keokuk; a stepbrother, David Calhoun of Keokuk;
special cousin, Jesse Richards; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Tones; stepfather, Norman Richardson;
and a brother, Kevin Tones.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Oakland
Cemetery in Warsaw on . Memorials may be directed to the Central Missouri Humane
Society. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
