Mitchell “Mitch” Ray Freeman, 34, passed unexpectedly on Monday, June 8, 2026, after
battling mental illness for many years.
Mitch was born on June 19, 1991, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Dennis and Cindy
(Hinton) Freeman. He graduated 8 th Grade from Keokuk Catholic Schools, graduated
from Keokuk Senior High in 2010, and went on to graduate from Western Illinois
University in 2015. He was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed playing video games.
Mitch is survived by his parents Dennis and Cindy Freeman of Keokuk; his grandmother
Barb Hinton of Keokuk; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and
friends.
Mitch is preceded in death by three grandparents: George Hinton and Ralph and
Thelma Freeman.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at DeJong-Printy
Funeral Home in Keokuk, Iowa. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Oakland
Cemetery in Keokuk. A funeral procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home
following the visitation.
