Francis Lee Allen, 90, of West Point
at the Golden Good Shepard Home in Golden, Il.
Francis was born on May 7, 1936, the son of Stephen Alonzo Allen and Lora Belle
Williams in Plymouth, Il. He served in the US Army from January 1956 and was
honorably discharged in January 1959. On November 13, 1960, he was united in
marriage to Bonnie Vance in West Point, Il. They were happily married for 56 years. She
preceded him in death in 2016. He and Bonnie enjoyed 13 winters together in their
Ocala, Florida home, before her passing. Francis worked for Moorman manufacturing in
Quincy for 41 years, retiring in 1995. He was also a lifelong farmer and retired from
farming in 2011. He loved his farm and checking the crops on a regular basis. He also
enjoyed a good cup of coffee and peach cobbler. Francis was a member of the
Assembly of God Church in Augusta, where he served on the church board and was a
deacon. He was also a long-standing member of the Gideon’s International society.
He is survived by his three children; Teresa (Tim) Snodgrass of West Point, Il, Ron
(Elizabeth) Allen of Huntsville, Al, and Deb (Jeff) Bozarth of West Point, Il; Six
grandchildren, Erica (Jason) Vyhnanek, Courtney (Nick) McCarty, Michael Allen,
Brandon (Julie Garrett) Carl, Allegra Allen, and Riley Bozarth; four step grandchildren,
Jessica (Danny) Shaver, Jenna (Josh) VerDught, Emma Bozarth and Dalton Snodgrass;
and many great grandchildren, step great grandchildren; he is also survived by five
brothers-in-law, Bob, Bill, and Jeff Vance, Bill Miller, and Kevin Rund along with several
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Francis was preceded in death by; his wife Bonnie, his siblings, Howard Allen, Larry
Allen, Marjorie Franklin and Shirley Miller; and two sister’s-in-law, Judy Rund and Jo
Vance.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Printy Funeral
Home in Carthage with burial to follow in West Point Cemetery in West Point, Il.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of services at 3:00 PM at the funeral home
in Carthage. Memorials may be directed to Gideons International or donor’s choice.
