Donald Lee Mabry
Donald Lee Mabry, 93, of Carthage, passed away at 4:54 PM Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Don was born November 12, 1932, the son of Paul Dean and Thea Amanda (Jewell) Mabry in Denver, Illinois. He attended Denver Grade School and graduated from Carthage High School in 1950. After high school he served in the U. S. Air Force and received his Honorable Discharge four years later. On March 15, 1959, Don was united in marriage to Sonja Edith Marshall at the Elvaston Presbyterian Church. She survives. Don was a lifelong farmer and member of the Denver Christian Church. At eighty years old he painted the beautiful ceiling of the church. He was also a member of the flying farmers. Don is survived by his wife, Sonja, of Carthage; three daughters, Debbie (Rex) Johnson of LaHarpe, Carolyn (Tim) Wright of Rushville, and Melissa (Jamie) Merriman of Winchester; grandchildren, Kirsten (Robert) Juarez, Kelly (Christian) Johnson, Brandon (Kara) Wright, Austin Wright, Aaron (Calla) Merriman, Drew (Delaney) Merriman and Anna (Colby) Merriman; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Connie (Don) Scheuermann of Mackinaw, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arnold; and two grandsons, Allen Donald Johson and Blake Robert Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of services at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Denver Christian Church or St. Jude’s Hospital. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
