Kathleen "Kathy" Virginia Nelson

Kathleen “Kathy” Virginia Nelson

Kathleen “Kathy” Virginia Nelson, 73, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Monday,
February 23, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Kathy was born on April 24, 1952, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey and Theresa
(Hickey) Hoskins. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1971, and on September
9, 1972, she was united in marriage to Larry Nelson. He preceded her in death in 2023.
Kathy was employed as a CNA at Montebello Care Center and Keokuk Area Hospital
until her retirement.
Kathy faithfully attended Calvary Foursquare Church in Keokuk, formerly attending
Sutter Salem Bible Church. She loved shopping at secondhand stores, but most of all,
she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. She always took care of everyone else before herself.
Our family lost the glue that has held us together for years. Kathy was the kindest
woman you would ever meet. She helped anyone in need of a ride, a place to sleep or
just a full belly. She became a grandma to everyone and poured her life into being
everything for everybody. Rest easy, we will miss and cherish you every day, but we
know you are at peace in a place where pain is gone, your body is light and your spirit is
free. You will never know how much you meant to all of us here on earth.
Kathy is survived by five children: Dawn Nelson of Warsaw, Larry (Aimee) Nelson of
Warsaw, Tina (Eric Higley) Nelson of Camp Point, Coreena (Brian) Corvaia of
Alexandria, Missouri and Kimberly Nelson of Warsaw; her grandchildren: Kelcy, Wyatt,
Cohl, Michelle, Stephanie, Sean, Jordan, Robert, Kaylee, Jasmine, Selaha, Cassie,
Christina, John, Ryan, Anthony, Justice, Lathan, Caulin, Laine, Greg and Nicholas; an
honorary son, Mark (Sarah) Rening of Keokuk; eleven siblings: David E. (Theresa)
Howes, Greg (Cathy) Hoskins, Steven L. (Donna) Hoskins, Harvey J. (Teresa) Hoskins,
Edward W. (Karen) Hoskins, Gary A. Hoskins, Robert W. (Suzzett) Hoskins, Barbara A.
Hall, Theresa Kay Phillips, Connie (Darren) Dietrich and Jerrie (Ryan) Moore; and
numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted family.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry, her sister-in-law Mary Jo
Hoskins and grandchildren Kathy and Ainsley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Calvary
Foursquare Church in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Keokuk National Cemetery in
Keokuk. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, from 2 to 5 pm at Calvary
Foursquare Church in Keokuk.
Memorials may be directed to Calvary Foursquare Church in Keokuk.

Tributes and condolences may be left at www.printyfuneralhome.com.
Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
