Kevin Brian Helmick

 Kevin Brian Helmick, 71, of Keokuk, passed away early Thursday morning, January 29, at home surrounded by loved ones.

     Born March 14, 1954, in Burlington, Iowa, Kevin grew up in Keokuk and began playing music at 14 alongside his father in the band Western Lights. Music, woodworking, and helping others remained central to his life, even as he faced significant health challenges, including a heart transplant in 2018.

     Kevin married Carrie in 1983, sharing 40 devoted years together. He was the last surviving sibling of six and is survived by his wife, Carrie; many nieces, nephews, great?nieces, great?nephews; extended family; and numerous friends who will deeply miss his humor, loyalty, and generous spirit.

     Memorials may be directed to EveryStep Hospice, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
