Stephen “Steve” Youngmeyer
Stephen “Steve” Youngmeyer, 75, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 19,
2026, at his home in Carthage.
Steve was born on December 16, 1950, in Carthage, Illinois, the son of Jay and Jean
(Whitcomb) Youngmeyer. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1969 and went on to
have a career farming and driving trucks in the Carthage area. On January 2, 1993, he was
united in marriage to Martha Strubinger in Carthage, Illinois. She survives.
Steve was above all a family man, and adored his wife, daughter and grandchildren. Beneath his gruff exterior was a man who always meant well, and always took care of those around him.
He loved going to auctions and sporting events, and grew a huge garden at the family farm,
sharing the bounty of his harvests with his friends and family.
Steve is survived by his daughter Tanya (Robert) West of Jacksonville, Florida; his brother
Kevin (Brenda) Youngmeyer of Carthage; five grandchildren: Ava Law, Garrett West, Owen
West, Taylor West and Skylar West; nephew Klint (Katie) Youngmeyer of Fenton, Missouri;
niece Kate (Jake) Moest of Sutter, Illinois; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and
cousins.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother Mayme.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 2 to 6 pm, with family meeting friends from 4 to 6 pm at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.
Memorials may be directed to the family for his grandchildren’s education.
