Danny Hudson

Danny Hudson

Danny Hudson, 91, of Carthage, passed away early Monday morning,
January 12, 2026, at Hickory Grove in Carthage, IL.
Danny was born June 23, 1934, the son of Lawrence E. and Erma
(Fleming) Hudson in Keokuk, Iowa. He graduated from Bowen High
School. On August 12, 1954, he joined the United States Navy and
received his Honorable Discharge on August 30 th , 1962, after serving on
the U.S.S. Valley Forge. On October 29, 1960, he was united in marriage
to Vivian Mae Garrelts at the Denver Christian Church. She preceded him
in death on August 23, 2020. Danny had worked as a lineman for WIEC for
32 years to the day. He had been an active member of the American
Legion and V.F.W. serving on the Military Honor’s Guard for many years.
He was also a member of the Carthage Eagle’s Club.
Danny is survived by his friend and caregiver, Donna Thompson, of
Carthage; nephews, Edward Garrelts, Jr., Frederick Garrelts, Jr., Michael
Garrelts and Timothy Garrelts; and great nephew, Wesley Hudson,
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; two brothers,
Forrest William “Bill” Hudson and one in infancy; and a nephew, Randy
Hudson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at
Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in the West Point
Cemetery with Military Honor’s rendered by the U.S. Navy and Hancock
County Honor Guards. Visitation will be held at the funeral Home from
10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Hancock County Honor Guard. Printy
Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
