Rovene K. Lipper

1925-2026

Rovene K. Lipper, age 100, of Kahoka, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

She was born on August 13, 1925 in Kahoka, the daughter of Johnnie and Eda Katharina (Neumann) Acklie. Rovene graduated from Kahoka High School with the Class of 1943 and later continued her education at Gem City College in Quincy, Illinois.

On April 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ansel C. Lipper in Kahoka. Together they shared more than sixty years of marriage. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2007.

Rovene was employed at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison, Iowa, the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Iowa, and later at Dryden’s in Keokuk. After the birth of her daughter Jonna, she devoted her time to raising her family and working on the family farm. When her children were grown, she returned to the workforce as a cook at the Luray School. She was also active in her children’s lives, serving as a 4-H project leader during their participation.

She had a love for shoes, food, and fashion, and amassed a collection of more than 1,000 cookbooks. Rovene especially enjoyed preparing unique and unusual recipes for family and friends.

In her remarkable lifetime, she was blessed to celebrate 100 Christmases, 100 New Year’s Days, and 100 birthdays—a true testament to a long life well lived.

She is survived by two sons, Arlen Lipper (Debbie) of Kimberling City, Missouri, and Linley Lipper (Ellen) of Luray; two daughters, Kathy Dochterman (Richard “Doc”) of Aledo, Illinois, and Jonna Bell (Terrell) of Warrensburg, Missouri; five grandchildren, Lyndee Dycus (Rusty), Joshua Lipper, Adam Lipper, Calem Lipper (Callie), and Seth Shaffer (Brooklyn); six great-grandchildren, Krystopher, Joshua, Olivia, Collins, Jaxon, and Eleanor; along with numerous step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

In addition to her husband, Rovene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lester Acklie and Kenneth Acklie; and her sister, Madeline Muhrer.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka, with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery in Kahoka.

Visitation will be held after 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, with the family meeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
