Mary Ann Long
Mary Ann Long, 73, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Burnside, Illinois passed away on
Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
MaryAnn was born on Christmas Day, 1951, in LaHarpe, Illinois. She was the daughter
of Richard and Helen (Curtis) Jacob. MaryAnn graduated from Carthage High School in
1970 and went on to attend Gem City business College. She was united in marriage to
Roger Long on July 5, 1970, at the Burnside Christian Church, where she remained a
lifelong member.
MaryAnn worked many years as a secretary for the Quincy Police Department, retiring
in 2001. MaryAnn loved to travel with her husband and family and loved to attend her
granddaughters’ ball games. She was the ultimate organizer; she had to get things
done. MaryAnn loved to cook, but what gave her the most pleasure in life was being a
wife, a mother, and grandmother. She just loved being with her family.
MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Roger; a daughter, Jennifer (Phillip) Neally of
Quincy, Illinois; two granddaughters, Abbie (Gavin Bishop) Neally of Quincy and Maggie
Neally of Quincy; two brothers, Don (Linda) Jacob of Carthage, and Daryl Jacob of
Carthage; and one sister, Terry (Andy) Redenius of Carthage; and many nieces,
nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
