Refugio “Doris” Maria Bravo Espinoza Herbert
Refugio “Doris” Maria Bravo Espinoza Herbert, 83, of Nauvoo, passed away at 10:20
PM, Friday, September 12, 2025, at her home in Nauvoo.
Doris was born November 6, 1941, in Manley, Iowa, the daughter of Raphael and
Refugio (Torres) Bravo. In 1960, she was united in marriage to Maurice Espinoza and
together they had a daughter, Ana, born in 1969. They later divorced and on July 3,
1982, she was married to Raphael “Ray” Herbert, who preceded her in death on
August 18 th of this year. In 2001, Doris achieved her lifelong dream of being a
massage therapist and sharing her gift of love and healing with others by opening Inner
Peace Massage Therapy Clinic in Hamilton with her daughter.
Doris took great comfort in studying her Bible and in the knowledge of her salvation by
claiming God as her Lord and Savior who died on the cross to forgive our sins. Doris
was so many things to so many people, but being a mother and grandmother is what
she loved all else. Doris had a remarkable life – from contracting polio as a toddler to
spending to years of her life in an iron lung. Upon receiving a polio free child, her
parents were also informed she would never walk or move again. To walking, working,
and eventually having a family.
Doris is survived by her youngest daughter, Ana (Don) Maria Espinoza LeVesque;
grandchildren, Alicia (Christian) LeVesque and Joshua LeVesque and his sweet
girlfriend, Destany Martin.
Doris requested that everyone that has taken part in her medical journey be thanked
and knows how much gratitude she holds for you. Doris also wanted to make sure that
a very special thank you would go to the beautiful Lee County Hospice team that
attended to both her and Ray.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of
arrangements.
