John L. Briggs, 52, of Macomb, IL, formerly of Carthage, passed away on Monday, July
7, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
John was born on January 22, 1973, in Fulda, Germany. He was the son of John Briggs
Sr. and Sharon Salyers. John graduated from Warsaw high school. He served in the US
Army. John spent many years working as a truck driver for Prairie Farms and a
mechanic for Moore Tire in Macomb. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. John loved
to write. He had published two books. John was also an ordained minister and in his
spare time would officiate weddings and funerals. He would volunteer at the VFW and
help out wherever he could. John loved a good joke. He loved his mother and his kids
very much.
John is survived by his mother, Sharon (Eric) Sloat of Carthage, IL, his sisters, Sherry
McKinley of Highland, IL, Samantha (Ivan) Cuellar of Little Elm, TX, his spouse, Amy
Briggs, and his children, Chancellor Briggs, Bethany Briggs, and Cooper Briggs.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made out to the VFW in Macomb, IL. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
