Larry Harold Tanner, 84, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at
River Valley Place in Fort Madison, Iowa.
Larry was born on March 11, 1941, in Stillwell, Illinois, the son of Paul Harold “Jake” and
Bessie Aileen Tanner. He graduated from Unity High School in 1959. He was united in
marriage to Nellie “Peach” Stone on February 19, 1961, at the Methodist Church in
Quincy, Illinois. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2021. Born to this marriage were
three children: Debbie, Donna and Chad.
Larry has always been a farmer at heart. He was always willing to give a helping hand
or give someone some good advice. He will be greatly missed.
Larry is survived by his three children: Debbie Mortimer of Donnellson, Iowa, Donna
Tobias of West Point, Illinois, and Chad (Andrea) Tanner of McLean, Illinois; seven
grandchildren: Lance Mortimer, Dana (David) Zumdome, Matthew and Ross Tobias,
Brooke (Jared) Wiemann, and Izzy and Isaac Tanner; four great-grandchildren: Brayden
and Annabell Mortimer and Jaxson and Winston Zumdome; his brother Joe Tanner and
his sister Judie (Doug) Flesner.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nellie, his brother David Tanner, his
sister Annie Carder and his granddaughter Abigail Tanner.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Printy Funeral
Home in Warsaw, with burial to follow at Chili Cemetery. Visitation will be held on
Monday, July 14, from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
