Leonard Micheal “Mike” Woods

1941-2025

 

     Leonard Micheal “Mike” Woods, 83 of Keokuk, IA passed away Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison, IA.

     He was born July 7, 1941 in Keokuk, IA the son of Harry E. and Lucy Irene Wardwell Woods.  He graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1959 and later from Del Mar Community College in Corpus Christi, TX and earned his Associates of Arts degree.

     On April 5, 1991 Mike was united in marriage to Dianna Burris in Keokuk.  She survives.

     Other survivors include one son, Scott Woods (Kelly) of Monmouth, IL, two daughters, Beth DeSchepper (Richard) of Altoona, IL and Jill Ferry of Victoria, IL and seven grandchildren, Taylor Woods, Tanner Woods, Megan Ferry, Mathew Ferry, Sarah DeSchepper, Emily DeSchepper and Andrew DeSchepper, several great-grandchildren, one step-son, Rome Burris, four step-grandsons and two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. 

     He was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Vradenburg and one step-son, Tracy Burris.

     Mike had been employed at the Hoerner YMCA and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church both in Keokuk.

     He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf, baseball and NASCAR.

     According to his wishes, there will be no services.

     Memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge #106.

     The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
