Melvin Lester Walker
University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
Melvin was born in Carthage, IL, on April 10, 1955, the son of Lyle Walker and Della
Patrick. He graduated from Carthage High School. Melvin loved football, fishing, and
driving semis. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. After graduating high
school, Melvin went on to be an ASE Certified Mechanic. He was always tinkering with

he wanted to see and do more, so he became an over the road truck driver. He drove
semi-trucks well into his 50’s until his health wouldn’t allow it anymore.

“Renee” (Tracy) Wolber of West Burlington, IA, and April Chick of Coralville, IA; his two

brothers, Joe (Carol) Walker of Carthage, IL, Jimmy (Vicki) Walker of Missouri, Danny
Walker of Carthage, IL, and Sam Walker of Florida; as well as nine grandchildren, and
four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
