Allen Wayne Montgomery

Allen Wayne Montgomery

1970-2025

Allen Montgomery, 54 of Keokuk passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 at his home.

He was born September 10, 1970 in Beardstown, IL the son of “Butch” Wayne and Mary Agnus Kost Montgomery. Allen considered Donald and Christine Royer as his parents who raised him from the age of three years to adulthood.

Allen attended Job Core at the age of 15 in Paducah, KY and received his Heavy Equipment Certifications. He received his GED from Southeastern Community College.

He loved Rock and Roll music. His all-time favorite show was Dukes of Hazzard. He enjoyed fishing and riding four wheelers with his brother Troy. He also spent time alongside his brothers helping them build pallets. Allen was a family man. He loved all of his family-close ones and long distance ones. If you picked up the phone to call, his first few words were those asking about each one of us and making sure to relay the message that he misses and loves you. We always thought of Allen as “Daddy Daycare” because he was always taking care of kids whether it was his own son, grandkids or his friends’ kids. He was a “giver” always giving to others if he was able. Allen was the baby of six children. We will deeply miss him, but he will never be forgotten.

Allen is survived by two sons, Brett Montgomery (JordAnn) of Burlington and Spencer Andries of Ft. Madison and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents Donald and Christine Royer of Hot Springs, AR, four brothers, Jim Self of Beardstown, IL, Tony (Ann) Self of Springfield, IL, Mike (Vickie) Self of Beardstown, IL and Troy (Angela) Simpson of Carthage, and one sister Cristal (Mike) Queen of Little York, IL, along with his best friend, Terry Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, his grandparents and aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 20 at Rand Park by the main shelter house for family and friends. Burial will be held at a later date.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
