Valerie Lemon Layton

Valerie was born on June 10 th , 1960, to Karl and Eva Lemon. She graduated from Kearns High
in 1978. She married her eternal companion, Darrell R. Layton, in the Salt Lake City Temple of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on August 1 st , 1978. Darrell and Valerie’s
children are Joshua, Matthew, Rachael, Jacob, Cherece and Casey.
Valerie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a
strong testimony, that she loved to share, of her knowledge of our loving Father in Heaven and
our Savior Jesus Christ, and that families can be together forever. She loved reading the
scriptures and sharing her favorites with others. One of those was D&C 24:8 Be patient in
afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for lo, I am with thee, even unto the end
of thy days.
Family was always very important to Valerie. Most memories shared included the time she spent
with family, teaching and giving advice, singing, playing games, and watching movies. She
always made people feel loved and she spread joy to whoever was with her.
Surviving are her husband, Darrell; her children Josh (Brenda), Matt (Karen), Rachael (Jason)
Caldwell, Jacob (Tally), Cherece (Casey) Hall; father-in-law Hugh Pierce; grandchildren Emilie,
McKenzie, Daylan, Madisynn, Clara, Breanna, Nicholas, Caitlynn, Alaina, Emma, Rylynn,
Haddie, Jayda, Jackson, Ava, Wells, Henry; siblings Robert (Kris), Dennis, LuJean (Tim), Laron
(Ann), Melvin (Holly), Julia (Julie).
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 18 th , at 9:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints building located at 310 N Durphy, Nauvoo. Family and friends may attend a
viewing on Thursday, April 17 th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. or on Friday 8:00-8:30 a.m. The interment
will take place at the Nauvoo City Cemetery, 3200 Mulholland St, Nauvoo, Illinois 62354.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in the form of cash or check dropped off
at the funeral, or Venmo sent to @Karen-Layton-4, in memory of Valerie.
