Robert Eugene Dooley,
2025, at the Heritage House in Carthage after a long illness.
Bob was born in Keokuk, Iowa on July 6, 1951. He was the son of Leonard (Bill) and
Dorothy (Batley) Dooley. Bob attended Warsaw High School. In 1970, he was united in
marriage to Deborah Harris. They later divorced. He spent some time working for
Newell Motors. Bob then attended the Quincy Technical School for Auto Body. In 1978,
Bob started his own body shop (Bob’s Auto Body) in Carthage. He ran the shop for 40
years until he retired in 2018; at which time, his son, Ron, acquired the business.
Although Bob suffered from Polio as a very young child, leaving him with some long-
term effects, you never heard him complain or miss a day of work. He had an incredible
work ethic. In his later years, Bob enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. In the summer
months, he rode on a nearly daily basis, and in the winter, he counted down the days
until he could ride again. Watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow
brought him great joy in his later years.
Bob is survived by his children, Milissa (Bob) Embrey of Charlotte, NC, Eric (Nicole)
Dooley of Carthage, IL, and Ron Dooley of Carthage, IL, his grandchildren, Alexandra
Boyce, Madison Boyce, and Samantha (Zach) Case, his great grandchildren, Asher
Case, and Dylan Case.
No services will be held at this time. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
