Lillian Mae Clark

Sunrise 1925-Sunset 2025

 

     On Sunday, March 2, 2025 our family gathered around our mother, our grandmother and friend not to say goodbye but see you in God’s glorious Kingdom prepared for all those who know the Lord Jesus.

     Lillian was welcomed into this world on January 13, 1925 by her precious mother Adah Belle Roach Galbreath and father Obie Galbreath.  She was the oldest child of four children.

     The memories of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother are many.  Going to church or working with her at the soup kitchen at God’s Way Christian Center, gardening, helping with yard work, even traveling to do some fun shopping, she was always ready to go.  If that wasn’t your thing, there was fishing along with camping.  Lillian loved to cook, make jelly and of course canning anything that would fit into a jar, this included meats.  Sometimes you would find her drawing. Sewing or doing crafts. 

     She was a loving wife to Lorenzo and the two did everything together.

Her contributions and memberships over the years was to the veterans, American Legion, also the 829 Engineer Battalion Army Airforce Club, NAACP, The Self Culture Club, Shoe Box International program, support for St. Joseph’s Indian School.  Lillian received honors for her Indigenous Native American Heritage. 

     Lillian’s motto that she lived her life by “It is more blessed to give than to receive”, her generosity knew no bounds.  She sacrificed her needs for the good of family and friends.  She will be greatly missed, but we realize God has claimed one of his own.  We salute Lillian Mae Galbreath Clark.

     II Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day and not only me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

     She is survived by one son, Patrick Clark and three daughters, Sylvia Tillman, Carrye Williams (Gordon) all of Keokuk, and Sharman Lea.  She is also survived by seven grandsons, Thomas Jenkins, Jerome Clark, Lamont Clark, Brian Williams, Brandon Williams, Lorenzo Clark Williams and Noah Williams, three granddaughters, Monique Flowers, Amashoda Ajuzie and Luna Price as well as several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

     Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Tristan Kase, one sister, Dorryce Houston and two brothers, Paul Galbreath and Wallace “Wally” Galbreath.   

     A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Tyrone Seay officiating.  Burial will be held at a later date in the Keokuk National Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church with family meeting with friends at that time.
