Russell Richard Muegge, 76, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday, January
12, 2025, at the Montrose Healthcare Center in Montrose, Iowa at 2:20 PM.
Russell was born February 28, 1948, the son of Floyd and Dorothy (Hess)
Muegge in Keokuk, Iowa. He attended Hamilton High School graduating in
1967. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Massey at the First Christian
Church in Hamilton in 1972. She survives. Russell had worked for Heat-I-
Later, Conagra and the Nauvoo Cheese Factory. He enjoyed gardening and
his Shih Tzu dogs.
Russell is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Montrose; children, Tausha
Higgins, of Coralville, Iowa and Ryan (Courtney) Muegge of Blandinsville,
Illinois; granddaughter, Emmilynn Muegge; a sister, Velma (Bob) Fondereli
of Cherry, Illinois and Floyd (Elane) Muegge of Quincy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold “Pete”, Wayne and
Jerry Muegge; and a nephew, Michael Fondereli.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Printy
Funeral Home in Hamilton at 12:00 PM. Family will meet friends from
10:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 at the funeral home in Hamilton.
Memorials may be directed to Hearts of Hancock Humane Society or any
no kill shelter in Lee or Hancock Counties. Printy Funeral Home of
Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
