J. G. Bailey, 90, of Hamilton, passed away at 9:20 PM, Saturday,
December 28, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
J. was born March 16, 1934, in Marshall, Arkansas. He worked for Electro-
Metals and Foote Mineral for over 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and
mushrooming. He also enjoyed carpentry and playing pool, but his
greatest joy came from time with his children and grandchildren, whom he
dearly loved. In 1953, J. G. was united in marriage to Luella Pearl Taylor,
his wife of 71 years.
J. is survived by his wife, Luella, of Hamilton; two children, Thomas Bailey
of Hamilton and Lisa McWhortor of Anamosa, Iowa; three grandchildren,
Mandi (Michael) Eid, Dustin (Kellie Sperfslage) McWhortor and Dakota
McWhortor; several great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Sue Howe of
Fairfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny Jones; and a
sister, Betty Groves.
A remembrance service will be held at 12:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2025,
at the Hamilton United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Oakwood
Cemetery in Hamilton at a later date.
