William "Bill" Benjamin Torbeck
31, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Bill was born on May 20, 1942, in Chapin, Illinois, the son of Paul Torbeck and Carol
(Combs) Torbeck Jackson. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1961, and on
October 9, 1965, he was united in marriage to Karen Marguerite Klingler at St. James
Lutheran Church in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
Bill was employed at Roquette for thirty-seven years, retiring in 2004. He loved the great
outdoors, enjoying camping, boating, water-skiing, feeding birds and squirrels in his
yard, and riding motorcycles, four-wheelers and side-by-sides. He was also a member
of the Great River Corvette Club and proudly served his country in the United States
Army, being deployed to Vietnam.
Bill is survived by his wife Karen Torbeck of Warsaw; his son Kirk (Sonia Richardson)
Torbeck of West Point, Illinois; his step-grandson Jordan Crowley; two sisters: Carole
(Roger) Roberts of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Janet (Gary) Shaffer of Hannibal,
Missouri; two brothers-in-law: Larry (Claire) Klingler of Tucson, Arizona, and Lanny
Brunenn of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann, his sister-in-law Kay
Brunenn and his in-laws: Raymond and Neomi Klingler.
A memorial service will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Printy
Funeral Home in Warsaw. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 am to 12 pm
(Noon) directly before the service.
