Phyllis Lewis

1942 – 2024

 

     Phyllis Lewis, 82 of Donnellson formerly of Keokuk passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at her home.

     She was born July 3, 1942 in Tioga, IL the daughter of Claude Johnson and Edith Caroline Lanam Yoe.

     She was married to Michael Ette.  To this union Michael, Robert and Tammy were born.  They later divorced.  On November 14, 1987, Phyllis was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Leroy Lewis, Sr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.  He preceded her in death on December 31, 2023.

     Phyllis had been employed by Shaffer Pen in Ft. Madison, IA until her retirement.  She then worked at Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant, IA and retired.

     She enjoyed watching her daily programs on television. She loved dancing and found happiness in every step.  Most of all, Phyllis loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Rudd of Donnellson, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Shirley Larrimore (Joe), Leonard Yoe (Kathy), Becky Bessine (Scott) and Patricia Bunnell along with many nieces and nephews.

     Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Michael Ette and Robert Ette and two brothers, Everett Yoe and John Yoe.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 2, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor David Turner officiating.  Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.

     Visitation will be held prior to the service, Saturday from 10- 11 a.m., at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to Lee County Hospice.
