Donnie George Jacob

Don was born December 28, 1941, the son of Martin and Irene (Beeler)
Kunz in Quincy, Illinois. He attended Warsaw High School, graduating in
1960. He then attended Western Illinois University for two years and was a
charter member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Then he transferred to
the University of Illinois to complete his Bachelor of Agricultural Education
degree. On September 8, 1963, he was united in marriage to Barbara Ann
Lackscheide at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter. She
survives. Don taught agriculture at the Havana School District and later
was employed as an advisor at the University of Illinois Extension Center in
Adams County. He then farmed full time, raising sheep, hogs, cattle and
grain for the remainder of his career. He also served on the Hancock
County Grain Board. Don enjoyed playing cards and spending time with
his family. He was a member of the Bethlehem United Church of Christ.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Basco; a daughter, Jolene (Dr.
James) Moest of Lena, Illinois; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kort) Branscome,
Jacob Moest, Nicole Moest (Colten Dornbach) and Jacquelyn Moest; a
great granddaughter, Vivian Branscome; and several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jay Donald Kunz; one
brother, Jerry Kunz; and his in-laws, Evelyn and Arthur Lackscheide.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday morning, October 23,
2024, at the Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter with burial to
follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 AM
Wednesday morning prior to services at 11:00 at the church. Memorials
may be directed to the Cardiac Unit at Mayo Clinic in Rochester or the
Bethlehem United Church of Christ near Sutter. Printy Funeral Home of
Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
