Charles Carlton “Chuck” Smith, 66, of Plymouth, formerly of Elvaston,
passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 8:35 AM at his sister's home in
Elvaston.
Chuck was born January 8, 1958, the son of Charles and Alma Joyce
(Hale) Smith in Keokuk, Iowa. He began truck driving at sixteen and
enjoyed driving his entire career and was awarded the one and a half
million miles mark. He worked for many years for Richers Trucking. Chuck
was a member of the Western Illinois Threshers.
Chuck is survived by two children, Kelsie Jodell (Robert) Perry of Plymouth
and Ethan Lee Carlton Smith of Bushnell; five grandchildren; one great
grandchild; six siblings, Alma Hull, Mary Joyce Smith, Jimmy (Nikki) Fink,
Fred Smith, Janette (David) Glines and Barbara (Harold) Shrum; and many
nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Justin Robert Smith; and
two brothers, Richard and Bobby Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 11, 2024, at
Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow in the Elvaston
Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at
11:00 at the funeral home on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the
family of Chuck Smith for funeral expenses. Printy Funeral Home of
Carthage is in charge of funeral arrangements.
