Robert Lee Real

1933-2024

 

     Robert Lee Real, 91 of Keokuk, IA passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

     He was born March 18, 1933 in Keokuk, IA the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Rose Real. 

     On June 6, 1986 Robert was united in marriage to Karen Case.  She preceded him in death on August 4, 2023.

     Robert had been employed by several local factories and construction companies through the years, including Best Construction, Pryor Trucking and Rose Brothers Construction.

     Robert loved to try his luck gambling and watching the stock market.  He enjoyed tinkering and tearing things apart to see how they worked.  His favorite job was repairing broken washing machines, dryers and lawnmowers.  He also enjoyed music and loved to sing.

     He is survived by one son, Mike Real, two daughters, Carol Mortimer and Peggy Boulton, eleven grandchildren, Leann Reeves, Tara Jessip, Jarod Miles, Jamie Boulton, Gary Real, Andrea Moore, Amy Derr, Courtney Nye, Brad Derr, Adam Derr and Cassie Watts and several great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by two step-daughters, Sheila Parks and Deanna Keener (Darrell) and two sisters, Jeanette Butler and Emma Harrison.

     Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Roberta Stephenson and one brother, William Delbert Real.

     A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 10 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.  Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

     Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with family meeting with friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
