April Sue “Apey” Leffler-Johnston

1967-2024

 

     April Sue “Apey” Leffler-Johnston, 57, of Keokuk passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 at her home.

     She was born June 16, 1967 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Ronald Keith and Bonnie Sue Biddenstadt Leffler.

     She was a graduate of Keokuk High School and later attended Southeastern Community College and graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree.

     On March 4, 1996 she was united in marriage to Preston E. Johnston in LaGrange, MO. He survives.

     April is also survived by her fur babies, Sabrina, Milo, Bellia, Oliver, Gracie, Maggie, Tucker and Talley Mae as well as her sisters Sheila Henson, Jennifer Bell, Lucy Leffler, Chris Leffler all of Keokuk and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

     She was preceded in death by her step-father, Dennis Hodges, step-mother, Margaret Leffler, maternal grandparents, Verna and Ralph “Biddy” Biddenstadt, paternal grandparents, and great grandparents, Alford and Dorothy LeMatty.

     She was employed as a dog groomer after achieving her certificate.

     April was a member of the Embury United Methodist Church and the Animal Protection League of Southeast Iowa.

     She enjoyed playing Bingo with friends, going to auctions, and also finding treasures at resale shops and yard sales.

    Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service with the family meeting with friends from 1 – 3 p.m. at the church.

     A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at the Embury United Methodist Church, 2453 150th Ave, Donnellson with Pastor Nancy St. Clair officiating.

     The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
