Rickie L. Jinkens
1955-2024
Rickie L. Jinkens, 68, of Wayland, MO, died Friday, June 28, 2024 at his home.
He was born on October 26, 1955 in Keokuk, IA, the son of James R. and Mary L
(Roberts) Jinkens. He graduated from Clark County R-1 High School in Kahoka, MO.
On August 28, 1993, Rickie was united in marriage to Debbie Swinderman at Wildcat
Springs in Hamilton, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Chrissy Englund (Matt) of Keokuk, Meagan
Walton (Rodney) of Ft. Madison, IA, four sons, Shannon Jinkens (Tasha) of Wayland,
MO, Justin Swinderman (Samantha) of Ft. Madison, Ricky Jinkens (Nisha) of Ft. Mill,
SC and Josh Swinderman (Theresa) of Hamilton, IL, his grandchildren, Tanner & Coy
Finton, Izzabella and Faith Swinderman, Taj and Sia Jinkens, Hannah Englund, Ava,
Gracie and Noah Walton, Aubree, and Kellie Karle and Baylor Swinderman and one baby
Swinderman, Carter, on the way, Gabby McCarty, and Reed and Easton Hambleton, two
great-grandchildren, Molly and Aurora and special nieces, Danielle Hambleton (Joe) of
Keokuk and Chloe McCarty of Keokuk. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Teresa
Roberts (Dennis) of Crowley TX, two brothers-in-law, Robert McCarty (Renee) of
Keokuk and Larry McCarty (Evelyn) of the state of Washington, a special friend who was
considered a brother, John Wildrick of Donnellson, IA and numerous nieces, nephews,
aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Estin, one sister, Sheila
Severin, a daughter-in-law, Amy Swinderman and two brothers-in-law, Dick and Lonnie
McCarty, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Berniece McCarty.
Rickie had been employed at BTR in Keokuk for many years and later as a truck driver
for Hoewing Trucking in Canton, MO and retired from there.
He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed camping, fishing, swimming and mowing
grass. He also enjoyed playing pool and taking care of his pets. He loved to ride his
motorcycle. The most important thing in his life was his family and spending time with
his kids and grandkids. He was a loving husband, the best father and grandfather and the
most loyal friend you could have.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, at the Vigen Memorial
Home in Keokuk with Pastor Daniel Fox officiating. A private family burial will be held
at a later date.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home with
family meeting with friends at that time.
