George Frederick “Fred” Pfeiferling, 83, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday
morning, May 25, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Fred was born February 14, 1941, in Warsaw, Illinois, the son of Elmer and
Amy DeEtta (Martin) Pfeifering. He graduated from Warsaw High School.
On July 29, 1962, he was united in marriage to Betty Pitt in Elvaston. She
preceded him in death on May 24, 2023. Fred was a worked as a
binderyman for the Hamilton Press for over 25 years, retiring in 1993. He
was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw
and was well known for his care of his lawn as well as many others,
including all the Warsaw City Parks and Methodist Church. Fred enjoyed
nature, especially birdwatching.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Lori (Tom) Wolff of East Peoria, Diana
Pfeiferling of Carthage, and Amy (John) McKee of Mackinaw, Illinois;
grandchildren, Bridget (Clayton) Young, Elena Wolff, Clarice (Joel) Hielema
and Ariel and Connor McKee; one sister, Janet Frey of Norwalk, Iowa; and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and two sisters, Julie
Smeltser and Joetta Ruffcorn.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Oakwood
Cemetery in Warsaw at 1:00 PM. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in
charge of arrangements.
