Marla Ann Herzog

Marla Ann Herzog 70, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the Macomb Post Acute Care Center in
Macomb, IL.
She was born April 8, 1953 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Dr. Donald Roswell and Elaine Lydia
Lawson Herzog.
She is survived by her son Justin T. Prevo of Carthage, IL., one brother Dr. Daryl R. Herzog of
Atascadero, CA., cousins Alan (Annette) Baldwin of Darlington, WI., Ruth Lawson of Fort Madison, IA.,
Ron (Sue) Lawson, Ron (Selena) Lawson II, Alyssa Lawson and Alexander Lawson, all from Keokuk,
IA., and her beloved cats, Saffron, Darwin, Alien and
Thistle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Darwin R. Herzog of Carson, CA., her sister-in-law
Priscilla M. Herzog of Atascadero, CA., aunts and uncles Rachel and Paul Baldwin of Warsaw, IL., Lloyd
and Eudora Lawson of Keokuk, IA., and John Walter Lawson of St. Petersburg, FL.
Marla’s father was in the military and with various jobs moved his family around the country living in
Ohio, Texas and finally settling in California. Marla graduated from Carson High School in 1971.
Marla married Joseph Prevo in 1975 and had one child, Justin Prevo. They were later divorced. She
married Jeff Robbins in 1989, but they later divorced.
Marla started her career working various office jobs and banking, finally retiring in 2003 as an Office
Specialist lll from the County of Orange in Santa Ana, CA. During her work years she was known as a
skilled typist and excelled in data entry and training coworkers. She lived in Buena Park, CA., at the
time, and after retiring moved to Warsaw, IL., to be closer to her Aunt Rachel. She liked the small town
atmosphere and devoted her time to taking care of her son and rescuing animals, mainly cats. She was
always an avid animal lover. One time, she saw a turtle crossing the road and stopped her car to personally
carry the turtle to the other side of road to make sure it made it across safely.
Marla was an enthusiastic movie buff and would travel to Keokuk, Quincy, Burlington and Fort Madison
to see the latest movie. She loved to try different restaurants in the local small towns she visited.
Marla was always young at heart and child-like in her love for toys and Barbies. She would go to
McDonald’s and order a happy meal for herself just to get the latest collectible.
Marla was a people person and loved learning about different cultures. She was a kind and loving person
and her faith and love of God carried her to the last days of her life
Services will be scheduled at a later date.
Internment will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Paw Animal Shelter, Fort Madison, IA.
Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
