Craig Russell Junkins

1941-2023

 

     Craig Russell Junkins, 82 of Montrose, IA died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home.

     He was born May 24, 1941 in Ft. Madison, IA the son of Mervin Russell and Mildred Leona Smith Junkins.  Craig graduated from Montrose High School in Montrose, IA.

     On July 4, 1959 Craig was united in marriage to Sandy Schevers.  They later divorced. 

     Directly out of high school, Craig worked for Watkins Elevator then Junkins Construction and Chevron Chemical.  Later, he had been employed by the City of Montrose until his retirement. 

     Craig was a lifetime member of Tri-State Gun Club in Montrose.

     In his earlier days, Craig enjoyed being at his parents cabin and fishing in the Mississippi River.  He enjoyed deer hunting, raccoon hunting and duck hunting.  He participated in field trials with his walker coon hound, Sweetie, traveling all over the country to compete.

     He is survived by one daughter, Lisa McFall (Randy) of Donnellson, IA, one son, Jeff Junkins of Montrose, IA, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Rehm, Andrew (Alicia) McFall and Ashley (Brandon) Ruffcorn, eight great-grandchildren, Caden, Jacie, Brody, Brylee, Brock, Baker, Knox and Baylor and several nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Doris Wear, one brother, Gary Junkins, two daughters-in-law, Kay Junkins and Joni Junkins and his special friend, Bonnie Mosley.

     According to his wishes, there will be no services.

     The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is assisting the family with arrangements.
