Dennis Lee Hodges

1948-2023

 

     Dennis Lee Hodges, 75 of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Ft. Madison, IA.

     He was born October 19, 1948 in Keokuk, IA the son of Russell “60” and Jeanette L. Luebke Hodges.  Dennis graduated from Keokuk High School and later attended Southeastern Community College where he studied welding.

     On September 2, 1994 Dennis was united in marriage to Bonnie Biddenstadt.  She survives.

     Other survivors include two daughters, April Leffler (Preston Johnston) of Keokuk and Sheila Henson of Keokuk, one son, John Bell of Windom, MN, six grandchildren, Dustin Leffler (Brittany), Jennifer Ketterer (Jon), Toni Salsberry (Brady), Andrea Sprague (Kenzie), all of Keokuk, Tim Bell of Burlington, IA and John Bell, Jr. of Windom, MN and eight great-grandchildren, Averie Piersee, Brycen Leffler, Jaelynn Ketterer, Jordyn Ketterer, Jayson Ketterer, Justyn Ketterer, Carsyn Salsberry and Spencer Salsberry. He is also survived by a special cousin, Danny Hodges (Anne) of Keokuk as well as other cousins and relatives.  

     He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Linda Ferris and one grandchild, Morgan Bell.

     Dennis had been employed by Henry Pratt Fabrication in Aurora, IL for seventeen years.  He later was employed by Wabash Trailers in Ft. Madison, IA. 

     Dennis was a member of Southside Boat Club in Keokuk.

     He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing pool.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboys, NASCAR, Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.  Dennis loved spending time outdoors sitting in his swing in the backyard.  Most of all, Dennis enjoyed going with his wife Bonnie to Chintz’s Bar & Grill for breakfast almost every day.

     A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to the family.
