Dixie L. Jingst

Dixie L. Jingst, 79, of Centralia, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at
Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico, Missouri.
Dixie Lorene Brown Jingst was born June 20 th , 1944, at home in Whiteside Missouri. Daughter
of Alma Fay (Horton) Brown and William Joseph Brown. Dixie was the youngest of eight
children. Surviving siblings are Willalma (Glen) Bishop, Eldora Day, and Beverly (Rodes) Hood.
Deceased siblings are Rita (Pete) Colbert, Jo Anne Simpson, Gene (Shirley – living) Brown, Tim
(Dolores – living) Brown. She is survived by a large loving family with numerous nieces,
nephews and relatives.
In 1964, Dixie first married Henri Hequembourg (deceased) and had two children, a son Aaron
(Hope) Hequembourg who has four children Sinclair, Hart, Walter and Blaise and a daughter
Amy (Hequembourg) Whitely who had three boys Brandon (Kammy) who are expecting a boy,
Connor who has two boys Jonah and Declan, and Jadon. In 1983, she married David Jingst, the
love of her life. Her stepsons from David are Ron (Rachel) Jingst, Bob Jingst, and Tom (Dawn)
JIngst with his son David and daughter Anna (Joey) and step children Logan, Grace and Lexy.
Dixie received her art degree and went on to work at the Daily Gate City Newspaper in
advertising. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Centralia and as an associate
member of Sutter Salem Bible Church in Sutter, Illinois. She enjoyed spending her free time
spinning and sewing, dying wool and making shawls. She worked the entire process from
“Sheep to Shawl”.
Dixie and Dave shared many adventures from raising the largest Angora goat herd in Illinois,
building a house from the ground up in Wyoming, missionary work in Alaska and Wyoming, and
becoming grandparents and great grandparents. Dixie had a life full of love and this is what she
would want you to remember. Her last 11 years spoiled by Dementia were hard years, they do
not outweigh the significance of the life she lived.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Sutter Salem Bible
Church in Sutter, Illinois, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at
the church from 9 to 11 am on Tuesday directly before the service.
Memorials may be directed to Sutter Salem Bible Church and Tri-State Family Services in
Carthage, Illinois.
