Emmett William Postle

Emmett William Postle, 89 of Hamilton passed away at his home, Friday, December 1, 2023. 
Emmett was born December 1, 1934, the son of Martin W. Postle and Jeanette (Bavery) Morrell
in Basco, IL.  In 1959, he was united in marriage to Joan Arnold.  They later divorced. On June
10, 1978, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Blankenship Klotzbach in Keokuk, IA. After
graduating from high school in 1952, he tried out for the St. Louis Browns, a major league
baseball team.  He was also scouted by the Chicago White Sox.  Emmett worked as a metrologist
at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1958 to his retirement in 2000.  He was a member of
the United Methodist Church (Warsaw), the Elks Club Lodge #106, and the Keokuk South Side
Boat Club. He served on the Warsaw City Council for many years in Ward 3.  One of the projects
during his time of service was major improvements to the Warsaw water plant.  He also served
on the Hancock County Board for 14 years.  Emmett was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and
enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.  
Emmett is survived by his wife Rosemary Postle of Hamilton, son Rodney Postle of Keokuk,
daughter Cynthia Postle of Montrose, daughter Terri (Chuck) Abell of Keokuk, son John
(Melissa) Klotzbach of Pensacola, FL, daughter Kim (Dusty) Ward of Keokuk, daughter Kathryn
Smith of Montrose, son Michael (Michelle) Klotzbach of St. Peters, MO and son Jose (Patti)
Acosta of Ecuador, South America.  He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth (Charles) Seavers
of Tennessee, IL and brother Gerald (Rose Marie) Postle of Carmon, IL and special friends Kent
and Carolyn Johnson of Hamilton, IL.  He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 33 great
grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 9 th , 2023, at Printy Funeral Home
in Warsaw with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw. Visitation will be held from
9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 at the funeral home Saturday morning. Family requests
that people attending the service wear your favorite St. Louis Cardinals attire in his honor. 
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Hospital. Printy
Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
