Meredith Burdette Hayden, 77, of Hamilton, passed away Sunday morning, April
16, 2023, at his home.
Meredith was born November 11, 1945, the son of Gale Burdette and Inez Mae
(Davis) Hayden in Macomb, Illinois. He graduated from Plymouth High School in
1963. He served in the U. S. Army from 1967 until 1968. On December 7, 1969,
he was united in marriage to Arlena Pearl Cook at the Faith Assembly of God
Church in Hamilton. She preceded him in death in 2021. Meredith had worked in
production at Sheller-Globe, BTR and Henniges in Keokuk until his retirement in
2008 and was a member of the Local 444 Steel Workers Union. He was also a
member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton. Meredith had many
interests and hobbies, especially collecting model cars and airplanes and drawing
his idea of future vehicles. He enjoyed car shows and watching westerns and old
war movies. He loved popcorn, vanilla milkshakes and coffee. He was a kind,
friendly man that enjoyed people.
Meredith is survived by his daughter, Sharon Bayliff of Hamilton; grandchildren,
Shykel (Dakota) Olson and Donoven Bayliff, both of Keokuk; great grandchildren,
Penelope and Alexander Olson; a sister, Marcia (Dale) Kelly of Plymouth; two
sisters-in-law, Janice Lee and Kerry Pence, both of Hamilton; and a brother-in-law,
Jim Childers of Hamilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Arlena.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 21, 2023, at Printy Funeral
Home in Warsaw with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 at the funeral
home. Memorials may be directed to Meals on Wheels or Western Illinois
Threshers. Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
