Sheryl Kay Sullivan

Sheryl Kay Sullivan, 65, of Carthage, passed away March 31, 2023 at Barnes-
Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Sheryl was born January 30, 1958, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and
Dixie (Van De Woestyne) Wells. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in
Nauvoo, IL. She married William “Bill” Sullivan on July 29, 1978 in Iowa City, IA.
Sheryl was a homemaker that built her life around her family. She was a regular
fixture at her children’s and later her grandchildren’s activities and events. She
took great pride in being her grandchildren’s daycare provider. Sheryl’s devotion
to her family was the foundation of her life, and she will always be remembered
for the love and care she showed to those closest to her. She was a member of
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage.
Sheryl is survived by her husband, Bill Sullivan, of Carthage; children, Ryan Sullivan
of LaHarpe, Rachel (Zak) Huston of Camp Point, Shannon (Jared) Murphy of
Carthage and Jennifer (Mark) Carlisle of Carthage; grandchildren, Bryce Payne,
Claire, Gwen and Luke Huston, Ireland, Liam and Kerridan Murphy and Austin,
Grant and Brinlee Carlisle; her mother, Dixie (Ross Eaton) of Joplin, Missouri; and
two sisters, Teresa (Paul Taylor) Charles and Penny (Tom Weise) Baker; her
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ann (Marty) Florie, Mary (Bud) Lewis, Edith
(Pat) Ewing, Mike (Kelley) Sullivan, Steve (Rana) Sullivan, John (Joan) Sullivan,
Trish (Buddy) Viniard, Dan (Kacey) Sullivan, Joe (Dawn) Sullivan, and Jim (Amy)
Sullivan. Sheryl is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and several special
friends who were like family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and her father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Don and Rita Sullivan.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church in Carthage with Father Tony Trosley officiating. The
burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Carthage, followed by a dinner at the

Immaculate Conception Parrish Hall; all friends and family are invited to attend.
Memorials may be directed to Haitian Hearts or the Jake Burling Field in Carthage.
Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
