Charles Richard Adams

1940 -2023

 

     Charles Richard Adams, 82 of Ft. Madison, IA died Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. 

     He was born April 1, 1940 in Keokuk, IA the son of Nicholas Earl and Florence McKay Adams. 

     Charles had been employed at Hope Haven in Burlington and later at the Des Moines County Jail.

     He was a member of First Christian Church and the Moose Club both in Ft. Madison, IA.

     Charles enjoyed visiting Shug’s Tiny Town in Ft. Madison to enjoy ice cream and milk shakes, Faeth’s Cigar Store and The Parthenon Restaurant until it closed.   Charles loved to mow his yard and to spend time with his significant other of twenty-five years, Deniece Self. 

    He is survived by one sister, Olivia Jane Rogers (Robert) of Keokuk, two nephews, Jason Rogers and David Rogers, one great-niece, Sabrina Rogers, two great-nephews, Logan Rogers and Owen Rogers and his caregiver, Becky Bennett (James Horn) of Montrose, IA.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Olivia Herold Adams and one brother, William Adams.

     A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk with Pastor Leslie Dalstra officiating. 

     Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with family meeting with friends at that time.

     A memorial has been established in memory of Charles and checks may be made out to Becky Bennett.
