Enid E. Marshall, 100, passed away at Hickory Grove Assisted Living Facility in Carthage, Illinois on February 9, 2023, following a brief illness.
Enid was born January 6, 1923, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Swigelson) Greenslaugh. She was united in marriage to Clarence R. Marshall on October 11, 1941, and they were married for 72 years. They were longtime grain and livestock farmers in the Hamilton/Warsaw area.
Enid was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; and a son, Marvin D. Marshall.
She is survived by sons, Donald E. (Judith) Marshall of Hamilton and James L. (Helen) Marshall of Aledo; a daughter, Christine (Richard) Roth of Alexis; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Williamson Marshall of Annandale, Virginia; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Besides raising four active children, she was a full participant on their farm milking cows, tending chickens and geese, a vegetable garden and fruit trees. In her spare time she cooked, washed, ironed, mended and sewed for the family of six. Beginning at age 70, she served four years as Wythe Township Supervisor. She was a longtime member of Eastern Star and Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Hamilton with burial to follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed Bethel Presbyterian Church in Hamilton or Hancock County Senior Services (for Hickory Grove Apartments). Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
