1930-2023

 

     Hazel Irene Lee, 92 of Keokuk, IA died Thursday, February 9, 2023 at her home.

     She was born August 25, 1930 in Wahoo, NE the daughter of Henry William and Ette Belle Taylor Meyers.  Hazel graduated from Keokuk High School.

     Hazel had been employed as a bartender and cook at several local businesses through the years.  

     She was one of the original seven founding members of the Southside Boat Club in Keokuk. 

     Hazel was a skilled seamstress and also enjoyed to crochet.  She loved to spend time outdoors watching the hummingbirds, tending to her flowers and watching the koi fish in her koi pond.  Hazel loved spending time at the campground in Alexandria, MO visiting with family and friends.

     She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Leggett and Barb Davis both of Keokuk, one bonus son, Boone Protsman, eight grandchildren, Nici Johnson, Heidi Davis, Scott Davis, Dyas Kinkeade, Josh Leggett, Casey Davis, Angela Leggett and Andrea Leggett and fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Kinkeade, one great-granddaughter, Peyton Lee Davis and her companion, Chuck Cramer.

     A gathering of remembrance will be held Thursday, February 16th, from 5-7pm at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with family meeting with friends at that time.

     A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 19th, at the Southside Boat Club in Keokuk.

     The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
