Kent “Wally” Michael Edmiston

1960 – 2023

 

     Kent “Wally” Michael Edmiston, 62, of Keokuk, IA died Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home.

     He was born on July 21, 1960 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Grace Ann Edmiston. 

     Kent attended Keokuk High School and DeVry Institute of Technology in Kansas City. On April 20, 1990 he was united in marriage to Mary Keefe. 

     Kent was a skilled carpenter for 37 years.  He retired in 2017.  

     He enjoyed watching movies and reading war and history books.  Playing pool with his friends was one of his favorite past times.  His love for music was well known by everyone that knew him, from classic rock to the blues and by his attendance at many concerts. Kent enjoyed watching and talking sports with his son Troy.

     He is survived by one son, Troy Edmiston (Hope Wrieden) of Keokuk , four daughters, Danielle Keefe of Keokuk, Cyndi Edmiston of Channahon, IL, Samantha Edmiston of Coral Springs, Florida, Shanna Burton (Will) of Anamosa, IA , six grandchildren, Elijah Gibson (Cierra Calhoun), Miley Edmiston, Ryder Keefe, Chandler Edmiston, Harper Edmiston, Thea Matlick, his mother, Grace Ann Edmiston of Keokuk, one sister, Kathy McCall (Kirby) of Keokuk, one brother, Scott Breakbill of Keokuk and a cousin who was like a brother, Terry Hackaday of Keokuk.  

    He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Edmiston, two sisters, Jan Breakbill and LeeAnn Breakbill, his grandmother Clara Edmiston and mother-n-law, Alice Mahoney. 

     A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA.  Burial will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

     Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home with family and friends at that time.

     Memorials may be made to the family for expenses.  Checks should be made out to Danielle Keefe.
